One of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers based in the UK and with headquarters around the globe, required a new solution to improve and streamline their torque auditing process in a number of their facilities at home and abroad.
Due to a number of mergers and developments over the last few years, the manufacturer was utilising a number of different systems for their auditing process. The systems in place were old and inefficient and they needed a solution that offered a completely new management system, support during the transition and ongoing support and maintenance in the future.
Crane Electronics were approached to propose a solution for the application and we were able to demonstrate that we were committed to devise and provide a completely new and efficient system that would improve their torque auditing processes.
Over the course of two years, Crane worked alongside the Quality department at the premium automotive brand to develop a series of solutions, tailoring our products and services to adhere completely to the customer’s requirements as a business and also across their numerous facilities.
The new torque auditing solution implements our WrenchStar Multi digital torque wrenches and the IQVu torque data collectors, working in combination with bespoke product software, implemented to work with the customer’s existing computer systems for ease of reporting and complete traceability from start to finish.
In addition to this, we also committed to providing a series of bespoke trolleys to house the wrenches and data collectors to power and charge the tools during downtime, allowing them to be used across multiple shift patterns and also allowing them to be moved around a facility and a production line with complete ease for the user.
The results delivered by our torque auditing solution has greatly improved the customer’s efficiency, reducing the time spent between measuring individual joints and fasteners, but also with the improved software, reducing the time taken to download individual component data to the wrench and data collector.
By doing all of this, we were able to increase the speed of uploading data from the tools back up to the manufacturers computer system for reporting and traceability recording.
Being able to provide a tailored and flexible solution to a complex company structure gave Crane the upper hand against the competition and the customer has enjoyed how Crane has consistently delivered a more intimate and accommodating service.
The development of this relationship over the last few years has led to Crane being appointed the preferred supplier for the company worldwide with solutions being rolled out to their other facilities around the globe.
