| Digital torque wrench improves work flow |

In some production environments the work flow is slowed down by the time consuming checking of a specification book before the actual fastening process is performed. The same applies for quality checks where time is spent with filling in forms manually. Both processes are open to human error. IQWrench Opta is an accurate digital torque and angle wrench that can easily be programmed to take a shopfloor operative through the workflow. In its most basic set-up the wrench automatically records which wrench was used, who has used the wrench, what the process was and what results were achieved. More complex routines can be set up on the digital torque wrench e.g. work instructions specific to model type or VIN (vehicle identification number), corresponding torque tasks including how many fasteners have be tightened, what the target torque is and commands of what to do when the specifications are not met. It is also possible to add non specific torque tasks to the work flow instruction on the wrench i.e. visual inspection of whether a part has been fitted.
In addition to the above, the work flow can be further enhanced by using the Auto-ID function of the digital torque wrench. Tool head adaptors can be fitted by Crane with a unique ID. The wrench can then instruct the operator what tool head adaptor to use for a specific torque task. Only after inserting the correct tool head adaptor, are the settings retrieved for the task and is tightening possible. This again eliminates “human error” from the production process and training of operators can be reduced. The process of looking up specification or recording results is removed allowing the operator to concentrate on the tightening process.
The tightening process is made as comfortable as possible for the operator. It is easy to use the IQWrench Opta with a wide range of measurement options - torque, angle, track, peak, move-on and yield. Contact us to learn more about the IQWrench Opta (Click here)!
